At a glance
A trip to the less frequented and authentic side of Argentina, where you can see centuries old culture in the sleepy towns of the north west’s scenic, frontier-like region. A land of adobe churches, pink dusty streets, canyons, salt flats, vineyards and ancient cultures.
Begin in the historic city of Salta, before venturing north to the Quebrada Humahuaca. Small ‘pueblos’ are caught between multi-coloured hills here, whilst the Salinas Grandes salt flats can be visited to the west. Onward you travel south through spectacular landscapes, where the journey itself is as much a pleasure as the final destination deep in Calchaqui Valley. After exploring here, you travel further south to the wine regions of Cafayate to relax and sample some of Argentina’s best wines in idyllic, rustic settings. You will then finish your trip with a short stay in the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires
Overview
The Faena Buenos Aires is a striking design hotel in the waterside neighborhood of Puerto Madero, the brainchild of local empresario Alan Faena and designer Philippe Starck.
The hotel is located in the restored El Porteño building, an enormous silo built in 1902 that produced grain for post-war Europe. The decor encapsulates the grandeur of the belle epoque that characterised Buenos Aires at the turn of last centrury. A red, black and white colour scheme runs through the hotel teamed with exposed brick walls and concrete pillars that hark back to its industrious past.
Rooms and suites are filled with eye catching touches such as hand embroidered throws and filifree mirrors and feature huge windows which look out over Ecological Reserve, the parks, Río de la Plata and the quaysides of Puerto Madero.
Eating and drinking at the Faena is a real treat. Enjoy fine dining at Bistro Sur where the menu is inspired by the finest seasonal Argentinian produce, or opt for something more casual at El Mercado which is inspired by the country’s famous cantinas and the open air markets of Europe. The Library Lounge is an intimate space filled with antique books and crysal chandeliers, while El Cabaret, inspired by the city’s 1920s tango clubs, is where you can catch the award-winning show, Rojo Tango.
The hotel also features a spa, fitness centre and an outdoor pool.

Your guide will pick you up for this stunning journey from your hotel in Salta. Initially you wind through lush tropical forest before heading over the top of the mountains and into the Altiplano. Travel through the amazing Los Cardones National Park full of many thousands of cacti and Los Colorados desert before stopping for lunch at the picturesque town of Molinos.
You then drive on, entering the real adventure as your guide brings you through dusty unpaved roads, fording rivers and streams, and winding through massive rock formations to reach your chosen hotel in the Calchaqui area.
Visit local colonial towns unchanged for centuries, high altitude wineries, to horse riding and generally unwinding in this scenic and relatively unknown corner of Argentina.
