    Magnificent lakes and spellbinding cities

Austria is filled with elegance, natural beauty and eye-opening history. The beautiful baroque architecture and the grand imperial palaces of Vienna and Salzburg, as well as the astounding lakes in the region of Salzkammergut, are just a part of what makes this a truly remarkable country.

The impressive palaces in its cities create an atmosphere of old-world glamour. The Schönbrunn and Belvedere Palaces can be found in the beautiful capital of Vienna, the imperial palace of Kaiserliche Hofburg in Tyrol, while the Hellbrunn Palace is situated in the enchanting, fairytale city of Salzburg.

For an even greater glimpse into the past, Salzburg offers Europe’s most preserved medieval castle, Hohensalzburg Fortress, which dates back to 1077 and sits imposing on the top of Festungsberg Hill looking down on the charming city.

There is so much culture to discover in Austria, specifically on the Ringstrasse, a ring road which loops the historic centre of Vienna. Here you’ll find several museums and galleries. To truly celebrate Austria’s culture in style, head to the theatres and concert halls of the capital to experience Austrian opera, ballet or classical music.

In Salzburg you’ll be delighted to find yourself in the setting of The Sound of Music. The city is also the birthplace of one of the world’s greatest musical talents: Wolfgang Mozart. Here you can visit his home on Getreidegasse Street for a glimpse into the life of this most famous of composers.

Southeast of Salzburg you’ll find the fantastical and tranquil landscape of Austria’s lake district. Both a hiker’s and sailor’s paradise, it offers the perfect place to relax away from the busy happenings of the cities.
