Luxury walking safaris made for you

Unforgettable wildlife viewing on a luxury walking safari designed for you

Explore the world's wildlife with a journey on foot

Experience the world’s incredible wildlife from a thrilling perspective on a luxury walking safari with Jacada. Drawing on their years of experience and in-depth knowledge of the land, guides and trackers will lead you on a low-impact journey. Walk through the wilderness in search of a glimpse of majestic creatures and fascinating eco-systems.

Track predators on foot with your guide. Zambia, the birthplace of walking safaris, invites you to search for leopard tracks among the trees of South Luangwa National Park. The soaring wilderness of Chile’s Torres del Paine is our favourite place in Latin America to search for elusive pumas, while drinking in views of crystalline lakes and rugged peaks along the way.

In Borneo’s Danum Valley, take a canopy walk through the forest to spot orangutans in the trees while learning about the conservation measures that protect them. Spot endangered Grevy’s zebras and reticulated giraffes with your Maasai guide across the Laikipia Plateau and Lewa Conservancy in Kenya. And, in Namibia, track rare desert-adapted black rhinos and elephants in the open, red-hued plains of Damaraland.

Slow and meticulous walks through rainforests and jungles uncover a multitude of fascinating wildlife. In Asia, the jungles of Thailand are alive with animals – and even more so at night. A jungle night safari reveals their hiding places and brings a completely different perspective to trekking during the day. Meanwhile in Costa Rica, home to over half a million species, a guided walk through the cloud forests will reveal glass frogs, butterflies, leafcutter ants and so much more.

Each luxury walking safari is enhanced by skilled guides and handpicked accommodation options, all chosen for you by our travel designers. Get in touch to start planning your own adventure.

Learn how walking safaris were developed in South Luangwa National Park as a low impact alternative to traditional game drives

Observe black rhinos in the deserts of Damaraland with the help of an experienced tracker

Track pumas among the incredible landscapes of Torres del Paine, home to the highest density of pumas on earth

In Norway, embark on a muskox safari in the Dovrefjell National Park, one of the few places in the world where you can spot majestic muskoxen

Discover the many layers of wildlife that coexist within the rainforests of Asia and Latin America, getting a close up look at their habitat and special survival adaptions

Zambia felt so remote that we hardly saw anyone else at all. It allowed me to connect more deeply with nature, especially through the landscapes and the small details in the tracks and wildlife we spotted during our walking safaris.

The best time to go on a walking safari

The best time to go on a walking safari depends on what you would like to see. Generally, it’s best to visit during your destination’s dry season, as heavy rain can make trails more difficult to navigate.

In Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania and Namibia, the dry season runs from May to October. Reduced rainfall makes for better wildlife viewing, as the vegetation thins out and animals gather around the remaining water sources.

In Costa Rica, the dry season runs from December to April. However, the green season, from May to November, can also offer excellent wildlife watching opportunities. In Patagonia, the winter months from June to September are best for puma tracking, as the animals descend to lower, snow-free valleys in search of food. However, the best time for hiking is during the summer months, from December to February.

For orangutan trekking, we recommend visiting Borneo from April to October, when the drier weather creates ideal conditions for wildlife watching.
