Kit Wong

Travel Designer

My working life has been consumed with travel – in the best possible way. After graduation, I joined a publishing house, working as editor for the in-flight magazines of Cathay Pacific and Dragonair. Then I became a travel writer for the Ming Pao Daily, one of Hong Kong’s leading Chinese newspapers. Over the past 10 years, I have reported from nearly 70 countries, including Greenland, Brazil, Namibia, South Africa, Kenya, Bhutan, Nepal, the Seychelles, Bali, Thailand, and elsewhere around South-East Asia.

One of my favourite places is Namibia, it’s a place full of contrast and colours. It astonished my eyes with its perfectly sculpted sand dunes and stunning sunsets against the backdrop of a never-ending horizon. Another of my favourite countries is Myanmar. Myanmar’s people remain religious in a most charming and engaging way. Bagan is exceptional beautiful – even though I had seen it many times online and in magazines, when I came face to face seeing the silhouettes of hundreds of temples, I was blown away. The scenery is powerful yet peaceful.

All travel is about experiencing another way of life. Every place has its beauty. Some have stunning scenery and cultural heritage, and all are filled with lovely, interesting people. Every trip can be amazing; the trick, I believe, is to approach each one in the right way.
