Discover the world's incredible wildlife with your family

Unforgettable family safari holidays across the globe

Luxury family safaris are a fantastic way to introduce children – whether they’re toddlers or teenagers – to the world’s astonishing biodiversity and beauty. We can plan family trips to suit younger travellers, older generations and everyone in between, ensuring that each family member will have their needs met – and their expectations exceeded.

Our tailor-made itineraries combine exclusive lodges, private game drives and family-focused activities across Africa and beyond. Glide through the waterways of Botswana, meet Maasai warriors in Kenya, see baby wildebeests in Tanzania or combine classic safaris with coastal adventures in South Africa.

You can also seek out wild tigers in India and leopards in Sri Lanka; look for elusive jaguars in Brazil and sloths in Costa Rica; or head to Australia for adorable koalas, kangaroos and Tasmanian devils. Wherever you go, we’ll help you find the best safari lodges for families featuring spacious suites, kids clubs and bespoke activities to suit all ages and interests.

Many of our travel designers have travelled extensively with their own children, equipping them with first-hand knowledge and honest insights to help make your experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Speak with our team to start crafting the ideal safari for your family.

    Madikwe

    Morukuru Family
Morukuru Family offers three exquisite ‘villas’ in Madikwe: the River House, the Owner’s House and the Farmhouse. Each villa provides an exclusive retreat in the heart of the South African wilderness, ensuring an unforgettable experience. You have complete control in each villa, with a team to cater to your preferences. Without set schedules, you can choose precisely what you want to do and when, whether tracking wildlife on a tailored big game drive or lounging by the pool with a cocktail. The River House, the largest property, accommodates up to six adults and four children, offering a spacious and exquisitely appointed setting.  A wooden walkway links the River House to the Owner’s House, creating an expansive exclusive-use safari escape. The Owner’s House caters to smaller parties of two to four guests. This intimate accommodation features a heated infinity pool, a well-stocked wine cellar and a library. The minimalist design, featuring natural wood and stone, invites seamless inside-outside living. The Farmhouse, located a ten minute walk from the other two properties, accommodates groups of four to ten guests and is ideal for multi-generational travel or milestone celebrations. The Farmhouse features a warm, neutral palette and bespoke Afro-chic accents, making it a popular choice for a South African family safari. All five uniquely decorated bedrooms are connected to the main area by a covered walkway.  All Morukuru Family houses come with a close-knit team including a personal chef, butler, housekeepers, a host, and a safari guide and wildlife tracker.

When to travel for family safaris

The best time for a family safari in Africa can vary according to your destination, but we recommend aiming for the dry season (May/June–October in most places). Pleasant temperatures, low rainfall and optimal wildlife spotting conditions make these months particularly convenient for family travel.

The dry season is often the best time for safaris in other parts of the world, too, but it depends on which species and activities are most important to you. In some places, the green season may actually be preferable.

For more details on dry seasons, green season safaris and shoulder seasons in each destination, reach out to our team. We’ll help you choose the best timing for a family safari anywhere in the world.
