Our bespoke hiking tours offer the chance to explore the incredibly picturesque country of Spain outside of its more frequently visited cities. Every corner of the Iberian Peninsula has its own outdoor attractions, and trekking is often the best way to appreciate the natural beauty that awaits at every turn.

The scenery that you’ll encounter as you trek through Mallorca is entirely different from that of Andalusia or Asturias. There are dramatic gorges to discover in Ronda, panoramic views from the peaks of Catalonia, intriguing cultural sites along the Camino de Santiago and so much more.

Complement your hike with hand-picked cultural activities to round out your experience. Sip bold Rioja on a vineyard tour in the eponymous wine region, take a cooking class in a local home, or meet with artisans in Mallorca to learn the skill behind regional crafts.

We organise completely personalised tours based on the first-hand experience of our travel designers, who have spent plenty of time hiking in Spain and curating the very best experiences and accommodation to complement your journey. Speak with us to start crafting a trip that you’ll never forget.

    Highlights

Walk along the narrow pathways and swinging suspension bridge of the Caminito del Rey near the Costa del Sol

Complete a section of the legendary Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route that passes through San Sebastián

Trek through the idyllic Empordà region of the Costa Brava and visit a local olive oil producer

Walk along the banks of the Duratón River and then wander the medieval streets of Sepúlveda, just north of Madrid

Spain has to be one of the best spots in Europe for hiking. There's an enormous diversity of natural scenery here, ranging from craggy cliffs to rolling green hills, and much of it is ideal for exploring on foot.

When to visit Spain for hiking

The best time to go hiking in Spain may depend on which region you’re visiting, as weather conditions can vary greatly across the country. We generally recommend late spring (April–May), early summer (June) or early autumn (September–October) for the best combination of mild temperatures and smaller crowds.

That said, high-altitude destinations like the Picos de Europa are often pleasantly warm during the peak summer months (July–August), while other areas are uncomfortably hot. And winter (December–February) can be a great time to hike in southern Spain or the Balearic Islands if you prefer cooler weather.
