Thailand’s landscapes are varied and invariably irresistible. Our luxury Thailand active and adventure tours will take you deeper into the beautiful scenery. Bespoke experiences can unlock tucked-away temples, cycling routes to ancient cities, and wilderness areas roamed by Asian elephants, leopards and Indochinese tigers.

National parks encompass rainforests, limestone mountains and rugged coastlines, perfect for active families who want to explore. Take guided walks to waterfalls and head out on private safari drives and treks with rangers to look for wildlife. Watch the scenery transform and wildlife emerge under the cover of darkness on a night time walking safari.

Bespoke Chiang Mai hiking tours take you along the Ping River to the 13th-century ‘forgotten’ city of Wiang Khum Kham, visiting markets and ornate, gilded temples along the way. We can also arrange a guided cycling adventure in nearby Sri Lanna National Park, combined with kayaking on Mae Ngud Lake Reservoir.

Further north in Chiang Rai, where Thailand borders Myanmar and Laos in the ‘Golden Triangle’, trek on mountain paths and take a river cruise on a longtail boat. When staying in Phuket or Krabi, kayaking or canoeing on the Andaman Sea is a must. Paddle around the ethereal karst formations and limestone cliffs of Phang Nga Bay, or take a private speedboat tour before kayaking through mangroves.

Our travel designers have the on-the-ground expertise to craft bespoke itineraries with exclusive, unforgettable experiences. Get in touch to start planning your active travel adventure in Thailand today.

    Highlights

Cycle from Chiang Mai to Wat Umong, a monastery with mossy tunnels

Ride a bamboo raft through forested valleys in Khao Sok National Park

Go sea kayaking around the limestone karst formations of Phang Nga Bay

With its vast national parks, incredible wildlife and much-loved coastal areas, Thailand is endlessly lovely and often surprising. That’s why I love creating active and adventure trips to the country. They open up even much-visited destinations in new ways, whether that means night safaris in national parks, cycling adventures to ancient sites or itineraries that combine the mountains and coast.

When to visit Thailand for active adventures

Thailand’s cool and dry season runs from November to March, and is generally the best time to visit for relatively mild temperatures and low humidity. Travel in northern areas is best avoided between March and May, known as the hot and dry season – particularly for active adventures like hiking and cycling.

Southern areas tend to have pretty consistent temperatures all year round, though the Andaman coast, including Krabi, Phuket and Khao Lak, is often hardest hit during the rainy season from October to December.
