Modern cities, tranquil ryokan, traditional culture and outstanding natural beauty
Japan is a fantastic destination for couples thanks to the sheer variety of experiences on offer here. A luxury Japan honeymoon can take you to both neon-lit cities and historic preserved towns. Immaculate gardens and forested mountains. Michelin-starred restaurants and traditional tea houses. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a place that offers more than white-sand beaches – though it has those too.
The country’s energetic cities are ultramodern metropolises, full of things to do. Taste the world’s freshest sushi in Tokyo, stroll around exquisite Zen gardens in Kyoto, and stay out for late-night karaoke in Osaka. Then head to Japan’s mountainous rural areas to find peace soaking in steaming onsen (hot spring baths), hiking to ancient temples, and spending time at a Buddhist monastery. And we’ll pair you with the best private guides who will introduce you to the country’s culinary scene through memorable food, tea and sake experiences.

When to honeymoon in Japan
The best time for a luxury honeymoon in Japan is spring (March–May) or autumn (September–November), when the weather is at its most pleasant. Temperatures range from mild to warm and humidity is low, making these seasons ideal for hiking, city exploration and cultural activities.
Cherry blossom season is usually from late March to early April. This is one of the most romantic times to visit Japan, as its landmarks are surrounded by ethereal blooms of pink and white. And between mid-October and the end of November, the landscape turns into a sea of vibrant reds and fiery oranges as the leaves change colour.
Winter is a quieter time to visit Japan and offers the greatest visibility for viewing Mount Fuji. It’s also a wonderful time to relax in a steaming onsen (hot spring) amid the snowy scenery.
