        Jerash guided tour

Jerash is a truly incredible site, extremely well preserved and with remains from Neolithic times, as well as Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Umayyad and others. As one of the best preserved cities of the Roman Empire, visited by Emperor Hadrian 129 AD, it’s possible to walk within the tracks of chariot wheels that are still visible in the paving stones.

        Days 4–6

        A unique experience in Petra

Petra is a captivating destination filled with a rich tapestry of history and archaeological wonders. As you step into this ancient city, you are transported back in time to the fascinating Nabataean Kingdom. Lace up your hiking boots today as you head into the Dana biosphere, the largest national park in Jordan. Here you can explore a huge array of landscapes and biodiversity along with your expert local guide who will lead you along the Nawatef Trail. The trail is circular and takes approximately two hours to hike, from the Al-Barrah area, to the scenic mountains and to the springs and ancient ruins of the Nawatef area.

Little Petra hike and back entrance

As well as being a treat for history and archeology lovers, Petra is an outstanding destination for those who love to hike through wild desert scenery and seemingly stumble upon world class ruins. If this resonates with you, we recommend starting at Little Petra, a separate archeological site which has also been awarded UNESCO world heritage status and is well worth visiting, particularly for its beautifully decorated ‘dining room cave’ with wall and ceiling paintings depicting wine and vines. You then trek the three to four hours through the wilderness of the sandstone mountains, dramatic scenery around you at every turn, until eventually you approach Petra at the monastery. Your private guide will escort you through the site in the opposite order to how most people do this – arriving at the monastery you will end at the Treasury and then the Siq.

        High Place of Sacrifice hike

Explore more of Petra on an exhilarating hike to the High Place of Sacrifice, a holy and sacred part of the Petra complex. After a challenging (particularly in the heat) approximate 45 minute climb up steps (some uneven) you will arrive at the ancient altar site where animals were dedicated to the gods, and their blood drained away through the stone. The hike winds back down to Petra over another hour and a half or so, and along the way you will see various burial sites.

        Days 6–7

A magical night in Wadi Rum

A valley carved out of the granite rock and sandstone in southern Jordan, Wadi Rum is steeped in history, culture, and mythological lore. No trip to Jordan is complete without a trip into the desert and you will stay in an authentic Bedouin camp and explore the sands on an exciting 4×4 tour.
