Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Staten Island

New York, New York. For many the greatest city in the world, a city that never sleeps, a global centre for culture, commerce, art, fashion and entertainment.

The biggest and most populous of any US city, and the focal point of one of the most populous urban agglomerations anywhere, New York City proper consists of the five boroughs – Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island, with Manhattan at the heart.

Each have their own distinct and proud characters, whether it’s the fast pace and instantly familiar skyscrapers of Manhattan, the 19th-century brownstone houses and art scene of Brooklyn, historic suburban Staten Island, the diversity of Queens, or The Bronx as the home of the Yankees and birthplace of hip-hop.

As a gateway for new arrivals into the United States since 1624, it is and always has been incredibly diverse – perhaps 800 different languages are spoken in New York – with each group of newcomers leaving an indelible mark on New York’s history, culture and cuisine, and on modern America as a whole.

Saying there’s something for everyone here is something of an understatement. Galleries range from trend setting collections of soon-to-be-known artists to world renowned institutions, restaurants exciting pop ups to those awarded multiple Michelin-stars, nightlife from underground rap venues to sell out Broadway shows.
