Elevate your mind and spirit, and rejuvenate your body
Spiritual and diverse, India is the birthplace of four major religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism), as well as yoga and Ayurveda, a whole body, or holistic, system of medicine.
On your wellness retreat in India you can immerse yourself in Ayurvedic teachings – with the best Ayurvedic doctors – and enjoy treatments and personalised guidance on what will work best for you. You could spend time deep in meditation, take classes and workshops guided by revered yogis, or step out for mindful nature walks. There’s also more adventurous experiences like white-water rafting, tiger spotting in India’s National Parks and guided hikes to scenic viewpoints and temples.
Our expert travel designers will handpick yoga and meditation retreats in India, alongside authentic wellness experiences, according to your personal tastes and preferences. In the Himalayan foothills with the sacred Ganges rushing through, Rishikesh is renowned as a yoga and meditation centre. Here, you could stay in a former Maharaja’s Palace, experiencing devotional rituals like Ganga Arti on the banks of the holy river, or private evening ragas performed by classical musicians. Not far away, in the hill station of Dehradun, you could stay in a retreat in the lush Sal forests and embrace Tibetan medicine and natural healing therapies.
In the south, Kerala – lovingly called “God’s Own Country” – offers respite with its emerald waterways, swaying coconut groves and the sublime Marari Beach. In Rural Rajasthan in India’s northwest, you can seek out serenity in its hills surrounded by opulent forts and palaces, or travel to the romantic city of Udaipur and stay in a picture-postcard palace “floating” on Lake Pichola.

Where to go

Keralan Backwaters
Between the Western Ghats and Arabian Sea lies Kerala with its famous backwaters. These channels that meander through rural villages and towns witnessed centuries of spice trade. Spices, fish and coconut still define the region's distinctive cooking.

Marari Beach
A quiet settlement where fishing remains the primary livelihood. The west-facing beach offers broad sands and memorable sunsets. In these warm Arabian Sea waters you can spot dolphins, surf and snorkel, but many visitors come for the area’s unique Ayurvedic treatments.

Rishikesh
In Uttarakhand's Himalayan foothills, Rishikesh spans the Ganges, connected by swaying bridges against a backdrop of scenic mountain slopes. This holy site has drawn Hindu pilgrims for centuries and is known today as the yoga capital of the world.

Rural Rajasthan
Traditional villages dot the landscape and ancient fortresses crown rugged hills. The countryside hosts remarkable hideaways for those seeking quiet reflection between city explorations, desert experiences and wildlife encounters.

Udaipur
Set amid the Aravalli Hills, Udaipur rises from the shores of placid Lake Pichola which mirrors grand havelis, palaces, temples and heritage hotels. This is Rajasthan’s most visually striking city, and its most romantic.
Discover moreWhen to visit
The best time for a wellness trip in India is from November to March, when wellness destinations like Rishikesh, Kerala and Rajasthan enjoy clear skies and comfortable temperatures.
However, different months work better for specific activities – February to June is great for spotting tigers when they gather near water holes, certain months feature important festivals and mountain trekking in the north is only possible during warm weather windows.
Since India is huge, the weather varies dramatically across regions. The Himalayas will be experiencing completely different conditions than the tropical beaches of Kerala in the south at the exact same time.
