When to visit Greece for cultural tours
Milder weather and thinner crowds make the shoulder seasons ideal for visiting Greece’s inland architectural monuments. The country typically enjoys sunshine from May to September, while some areas, including Crete and Rhodes, remain warm well into October.
The peak summer months of July and August are often hot and busy. During this time, it’s best to stick to coastal areas, including the Greek islands and monuments such as the Temple of Poseidon, just outside Athens.
January is typically best avoided, as many places are closed. However, the other winter months can be ideal for visiting museums and art galleries while they are relatively quiet.
