Immerse yourself in the bucolic ‘zen’ of El Silencio hotel. This relaxing and wholesome eco-lodge imitates rural Costa Rican style and “pura vida”. The 16 luxury, free-standing and stilted casitas peer over the 500-acre private reserve cloud forest canopy on the edge of the Juan Castro Blanco National Park. They are built with the immediate nature very much in mind, based on the native-style cottages and using lots of light and dark woods, bamboo and glass, yet they remain elegantly modern, minimal, spacious and comfortable. There are no TVs or internet but they are equipped with gas fireplaces, private terraces and Jacuzzis making your casita feel especially cosy and romantic at night. The hotel strives to exist in harmony with its bio-diverse and delicate fauna setting. Organic gardens, a greenhouse and small farm help to sustain the hotel and its ethical concepts; guests see and taste the delicious and fresh benefits of this at El Silencio’s Las Ventanas Restaurant and Hierbabuena Restaurant. Take part in spa treatments, eco-adventures, expeditions to the Poas volcano or even do your bit and plant a tree; these are just some of ways to while away the tropical hours at the hotel. Only two hours north of San Jose, with its relaxing and private atmosphere you’ll feel a whole world away at El Silencio.
Enjoy the natural evergreen environment of the misty Cloud Forests. If you wish we can arrange privately guided activities to fill your time here. Perhaps take a guided walk along the nature trails, enjoy a canopy tour, horse ride through the misty forests or take some time to practice some yoga.

Design meets comfort in the 58 rooms which have been purposefully set against the contours of the jungle hillside, giving the impression that they are seamlessly connected to the surrounding tropical forests. Very Costa Rican in style, fun and family-friendly, Si Como No’s extensive facilities and reliable service makes it one of the best equipped and relaxed barefoot luxury hotels in Manuel Antonio. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and it’s worth getting a room in the newer part of the hotel or perhaps even a deluxe one which have great views of the Pacific Ocean. Colourful, tropical interiors, stained glass windows and lots of natural wood illustrate the very Tico character of the hotel. There is also a well-appointed spa offering massages and beauty treatments, two restaurants, a butterfly garden, wildlife centre and even a 45-seater cinema. The hotel’s location near the smallest yet second most popular national park in the country with 4000 hectares of rainforest and 136,000 acres of marine reserve means a plentiful choice of local activities and adventure expeditions.

Perched on the Punta Quepos promontory, this luxury eco-hotel is just a short walk from the beach, and a 15-minute drive from Manuel Antonio National Park. Surrounded by 12 acres of lush rainforest, the hotel is surrounded by a wide variety of nature trails which take you close to the region’s stunning wildlife and lead to clifftop views. The resort’s 129 spacious rooms and suites blend a relaxed tropical style with contemporary comfort, and some include private balconies. The décor and grand style of the hotel is more European than Costa Rican with conquistador and Hispanic influences. High ceilings, heavy and ornate wood furniture with a touch of faded glamour does hold a certain homage to the colonial past. The rooms are well-appointed with the modern amenities, although if you are after a spacious, light room with a good view of the ocean or gardens then anything above the category of premium plus is recommended. Whether you’re craving seafood, Mediterranean specialities or heaty local dishes, you’ll find it at the resort’s three ocean-view eateries. From casual light meals, to private dining, there are a range of options. And at the end of the day, spend some time recounting tales of your Costa Rican adventures at one of the four bars. While away the hours at the swimming pools, on the tennis courts, or on go exploring through the rainforest. There is also a selection of adventure sports to choose from, like zip lining, white water rafting, horse riding, kayaking and jet skiing. Then treat yourself to beauty treatments or relaxation therapies at the spa.
This is the country’s most popular coastal retreat for many a reason, namely its controlled development, marine reserves, national parks and white-sanded beaches. As a family you can enjoy both the secluded, relaxing side of this location as well as the menu of water activities - scuba, snorkelling, sailing, kayaking, dolphin tours - to keep the younger ones entertained, not to mention the ease of lots of amenities and convenience to the capital.
