Explore old ruins, wander through the countryside and enjoy city life in a luxury family vacation to France.

Ancient castles, fairy-tale gardens, exciting theme parks, historic sites, buzzing cities and delicious food – France has all the ingredients you need for an unforgettable family holiday.

Paris is a must and there are so many wonderful museums, galleries and attractions to appeal to the whole family. Our local guides will bring the city and its history to life and, of course, there are plenty of pâtisseries to keep energy levels up as you discover the capital’s charming neighbourhoods.

On the coast, Normandy offers a fascinating look into the past for history enthusiasts of all ages. Explore the island monastery of Mont-Saint-Michel, and learn all about World War II with visits to the D-Day landing beaches.

In Provence you can marvel at the beautiful blues and purples of the lavender fields in full bloom and discover medieval architecture and Roman ruins at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Avignon. There are some charming hotels in this region that are perfect for some quality time together as a family.

For some fun in the sun, make a beeline for the beaches in the beautiful French Riviera. There are many rustic villages to explore along the coast and plenty of great food and wine. Speaking of which, the wine lovers in your family will definitely want to spend some time in Champagne and Bordeaux, sampling some of the best vintages the regions have to offer. You also have the chance to venture even further back in time with a visit to the Lascaux caves near the village of Montignac, where you will find Palaeolithic cave paintings that are estimated to be about 20,000 years old.

Go cycling through the ‘Garden of France’, the Loire Valley, stopping to explore old castles and breathe in the scents of beautiful lush gardens. Or get a bird’s eye view from a hot air balloon. Wherever you find yourself, make sure you spend some time browsing a market or two, and tasting the fresh produce each region is famous for.

Whether your family loves the outdoors, adventure, discovering new flavours or uncovering history, our Travel Designers are ready to help put together a memorable trip through France for all of you.

The relaxed lifestyle of the French centres around time spent together as a family. Do like the locals do and spend time exploring beaches and mountains on family adventures, followed by lazy lunches that stretch long into the afternoon, sat around a table piled high with delicious food and drink.

When to go

France is one of Europe's most popular destinations, and spring, summer and autumn are the best times to visit. You'll find some restaurants close during August so it's best to avoid this month if you're after a foodie -themed trip. There are some lovely markets around Christmas time and plenty of galleries and museums to explore if you're visiting during the cooler months.
