The best time to travel depends on the adventure you have in mind. For hiking in the Himalayas, March to May and October to November are ideal; expect clear skies and comfortable trekking conditions.
Between June and September, Europe’s alpine trails open up for hiking and cycling, with warm temperatures and extended daylight. December to March is a great window for winter experiences in countries like Norway and Iceland.
Visibility and marine life vary by destination. For instance, the Great Barrier Reef offers excellent diving and snorkelling between June and October. Belize’s Blue Hole is at its best from late November to April.
Travel during the green season – usually from November to April in many parts of Africa – for newborn wildlife, dramatic landscapes and excellent birding.
