This relaxing and wholesome eco-lodge imitates rural Costa Rican style and “pura vida”.
The 16 luxury, free-standing and stilted casitas peer over the 500-acre private reserve cloud forest canopy on the edge of the Juan Castro Blanco National Park. They are built with the immediate nature very much in mind, based on cottages lived in by local people and using light and dark woods, bamboo and glass, yet they remain elegantly modern, minimal, spacious and comfortable. There are no TVs to detract from the natural world around you but all rooms are equipped with gas fireplaces, private terraces and jacuzzis making your casita feel especially cosy and romantic at night.
The hotel strives to exist in harmony with its bio-diverse and delicate fauna setting. Organic gardens, a greenhouse and small farm help to sustain the hotel and its ethical concepts; guests see and taste the delicious and fresh benefits of this at El Silencio’s Las Ventanas and Hierbabuena Restaurants.
Take part in spa treatments, eco-adventures, expeditions to the Poas volcano or even do your bit and plant a tree; these are just some of ways to while away the tropical hours at the hotel. Privately guided Quetzal tour
You will be met at your hotel in the morning for a scenic drive of approximately forty five minutes to the Azahar Peak, near La Paz de San Ramón. Continuing on to the summit, you will enter a private family?operated farm where you will be able to view a variety of high?altitude dwelling birds, including the elusive Quetzal that nests between February and June. Once you see this remarkable bird, you will understand why indigenous populations across the region considered it a mystical creature and how important it is to have protected private reserves where they can live and reproduce safely.

Nestled in the green valleys at the foot of the spectacular Arenal Volcano are Nayara’s 50 luxury rooms -29 casitas and 21 rainforest villas. Large screened windows open up allowing for plenty of natural light. The decor is simple, but but neat with lashings of tropical orange, the greens of encroaching foliage, fine bed linen, dark wood furniture and polished floors. The privacy of the cottages and their amenities, with terrace, Jacuzzi and garden, makes this an ideal hideaway for the newly hitched or those after a romantic retreat.
Even though Nayara is a resort, the staff make every effort to treat you in a very personal manner and the service is impeccable. Also if you feel like getting out of your casita and enjoying some of the area’s activities and adventures you will be spoilt for choice. For relaxation, however, head to the hotel’s spa for a massage, coffee scrub or a volcanic mud bath. Perched atop a cliff and overlooking the forest, it’s the ideal place to unwind and rejuvenate.

Sky Tram and Canopy Tour
Collected from your hotel you will be transferred to where the Sky Tram begins. This fantastic privately guided tour takes you above the jungle on a twenty minute sky tram ride, allowing for spectacular views over the landscape below. Once you have reached the observation deck, you can enjoy a thirty minute walk along the nature trails to observe the wildlife, you will then take the Sky Trek canopy tour to go back to the starting point. The canopy tour includes eight cross-sectional cables with a total length of 1.7 miles long and a maximum height of 660 feet which will allow you to see impressive, uninterrupted views of Arenal Volcano and the lake below.
Enjoy the Tabacon Hot Springs
Enjoy the natural hot springs and the beautiful evergreen jungle surroundings. There is a great restaurant for lunch or dinner, depending on what time you choose to visit.
