The magnificent coastline is the perfect place for a convenient beach escape between the two cities of Sao Paulo and Rio. Rolling emerald hills, stunning bays and charming colonial villages populate this sultry coastline.
For a secluded and tranquil stay, we have included a stay in the small Brazilian fishing village of Picinguaba, where you can enjoy exploring the surrounding beaches on board the posada’s private schooner boat. Fall in love with the quaint colonial charm of Paraty, and then end with time exploring and relaxing in the scintillating city of Rio de Janeiro.
This trip is perfect for those with a short amount of time and are looking for a trip without internal flights.

Private transfer from Sao Paulo to Pousada Picinguaba
Accommodation in Picinguaba
- Restaurant (evening meals included)
- Wood burning natural sauna
Pousada Picinguaba is the only pousada of note in this beautiful village. The colonial style building set amongst the trees on the hillside offers breathtaking views out across the beach and sea. The large pool and sundeck have been constructed to take advantage of this vista, and offer a superb place to relax and take in the surroundings in total comfort. This has got to be one of the best pool side views in South America. The rooms are simply, but tastefully furnished, each with their own private balcony. There is one honeymoon suite which has its own jacuzzi and stunning views across the bay. The staff are excellent and will do everything they can to make your stay more enjoyable and help you organise further activities to explore the area, including schooner trips, walks through the rainforest and kayaking amongst others. The colonial style construction of the pousada and its idyllic location mean that certain amenities are unnecessary or seem out of place. Thus there is no air conditioning (but this really isn’t required due to the cool breezes from the forest and shoreline) and no mini bar or televisions in the room. But all this adds to the feeling of restful seclusion.
Set on the verdant green coast of Brazil this small fishing village is a truly idyllic and beautiful spot where the locals (though very friendly) are concerned with fish and not tourists.
This makes for a fabulous look at the real Brazil where you get a genuine feel for the people and culture of this country.
This is a protected area, so development is almost non-existent, the wildlife is abundant and the beaches secluded and totally unspoilt, with rainforest covered hills providing a stunning backdrop.
Private transfer to Paraty
Accommodation in Paraty
- Nine rooms
- 9 rooms
- Swimming pool
- Restaurant, bar and wine cellar
- Reading room
- Wine cellar
The recently opened Casa Turquesa is the most luxurious hotel in Paraty. With just nine individually decorated suites and a pleasant pool area the pousada is located in the heart of the historical district near to the pier. The building is originally 18th century but was damaged in a fire thirty years ago. It has since had a complete refurbishment retaining the colonial style of the area but to modern standards of luxury and comfort. Each of the rooms is tastefully decorated and well appointed with air conditioning, flat screen televisions and large bathrooms.
One of the most charming, colonial towns on the Costa Verde coast, Paraty is a Brazilian gem set by a picturesque bay. Your travel designer will be able to arrange a tour to allow you to understand the history of this quaint town, or perhaps you would like to visit a local cachaca farm to learn how they make their famous sugar cane rum, board a schooner boat trip or simply take time out to relax Brazilian style.
Explore the stunning beaches, deserted coves, islands, rainforest fringes and underwater aquarium of Paraty's coast aboard a speedboat.

The Fasano Rio is the most stylish hotel in Rio. Set on Ipanema beach front and designed by Phillipe Starck, this is a stunning property. The Fasano brings an air of understated cool and luxury that has been somewhat lacking in some of the other beach-front hotels in Rio. The rooms are immaculately decorated with a combination of period pieces, original artwork and chic-modern style. We recommend the Deluxe sea view category or above. Each has a private balcony with views out to sea and king size beds with Egyptian cotton sheets and goose down pillows. For that extra touch of luxury and pampering, there is also butler service. The facilities include an excellent bar, perhaps the city’s best seafood restaurant and a stunning rooftop infinity pool.
- Large outdoor pool area
- Rooftop tennis court
- Beach service
- Hair Salon
- Two restaurants
- Two bars
An iconic hotel for an iconic city, the Copacabana Palace is synonymous with Rio de Janeiro and is very much a destination in itself. The rooms, facilities and service here are truly first class and you will feel very special lounging in the beautiful pool area, which is one of the most elegant in all the city. The hotel is a short distance from the more fashionable districts (Copacabana no longer being the top of the pile) and you may find yourself making a short taxi ride to the best restaurants, bars and beaches. Service at the Copacabana Palace is the best in the city.
- Full spa
Set in the charming old colonial neighbourhood of Santa Teresa this hotel offers a different approach to the Rio experience away from the high rise beach hotels. The location up on the hill offers a great viewpoint from which to admire the city and an oasis of calm in which to relax. The hotel has full spa facilities, beautifully decorated rooms and great pool area. Formally a colonial farm house the building has been carefully restored and converted with its history in mind and a light modern touch; using old woods and natural fabric but cut with clean modern lines. Rooms are also equipped with all modern comforts that you would expect in a contemporary luxury hotel.
Spending your days in the heady 'Marvellous City' you can explore and enjoy Rio at your leisure. You'll have a full set of recommendations and advice from us on how best to make the most of the city.
The Tijuca Forest is just a few minutes away from densely populated areas yet is a lush green mass of trees and tropical plants with an impressive waterfall at its centre. Continue on to Barra Beach for some people watching and some acai juice, then travel from São Conrado beach to Leblon by the beautiful and scenic Niemeyer Avenue that runs between the mountain and the sea.
