When to go

Cape Town and along the Garden Route are great to visit any time of year, but early summer when the winds drops are particularly pleasant. If you're visiting for safari, the dry winter months are often considered the best but the wetter summer months bring full waterholes, lush bushveld and lots of newborn animals.

Exploring the South African Winelands is a common weekend activity for me. As a local, I tend to steer clear of the ‘touristy’ estates and I have found quite a few favourites so far.

Travel Designer

As a keen traveller, I have an intimate knowledge of South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia and southern Mozambique, as well as Uganda, Rwanda, and even Virunga National Park in DR Congo.

Ask me about flying over the flamingos on Lake Bagoria.

I was born in Tanzania and grew up in Kenya, where I developed a genuine love of the people, landscapes and wildlife of this beautiful country.

Some of my most memorable travel experiences include kayaking in Antarctica, horse-back riding in El Calafate in Argentina, gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda, climbing Africa’s highest mountain Kilimanjaro and getting up close and personal with polar bears in arctic Canada.

Travel Designer

Over the past 10 years, I have reported from nearly 70 countries, including Greenland, Brazil, Namibia, South Africa, Kenya, Bhutan, Nepal, the Seychelles, Bali, Thailand, and elsewhere around South-East Asia.
