Born and raised in Kenya,  my love for safari has been part of me for as long as I can remember. Growing up in the Masai Mara was pure magic. With my parents running a safari camp, my childhood was all about thrilling game drives, spotting wildlife right outside our window, and spending endless evenings soaking up the energy of the camp. It was an amazing way to grow up and shaped my deep passion for Africa and travel, I went on to study International Development at university before undertaking a three-month solo trip around Asia before returning back to Kenya to work at Safari lodges in Kenya. For me, the best part of traveling is the experiences you collect along the way—the ones that stay with you forever. I’ve been lucky to create these kinds of memories all over Africa, from spotting stingrays off the idyllic Seychelles to roaming the plains of the Serengeti in search of big cats, to enjoying the food and wine of South Africa.

    Africa

    My most memorable trip

    Cape Town

I had an amazing time in Cape Town recently. We stayed right on the famous Boulders Beach, where penguins roamed right through our garden—such a unique experience! We also attended the HSBC Rugby 7’s tournament, and the atmosphere was electric. The food and wine in the region are a must-try, and after all the excitement, spending a few days in Franschhoek was the perfect way to unwind and end our trip. There is more to Africa than safaris and Cape Town highlights this beautifully.

    On my bucket list

    Rwanda

Despite living in East Africa my whole life, I’ve never made it to Rwanda to see the majestic Silverback Gorillas! The newly opened Wilderness Bisate Reserve is the perfect base for this unforgettable experience. From its luxurious, nest-inspired accommodations to the exceptional food and wine. Pair this with the spectacular Wilderness Magashi Peninsula (opening 2025) for a Lux Safari and Gorilla Trek combination - very exciting!

    My favourite trip

    Luxury Botswana and Victoria Falls

This trip is perfect for both first-time safari-goers and safari aficionados. The beauty of Victoria Falls sets you up for the safari that follows, seeing game in the nutrient-rich delta and the waterways of Linyanti is like nothing you have or will ever do again. Coupled with the fact that Botswana has the most ultra-luxury stays you get a trip you will be talking about for the rest of your life.

    My favourite hotel

    Cottar's 1920s Safari Camp

I may be a little biased, but Cottar's 1920s Safari Camp and Cottar's Bush Villa are my absolute favourites in Africa. Growing up here, with my family running the camp, I’ve witnessed firsthand its incredible dedication to conservation. Located in a private corner of the Maasai Mara, one of only 12 Global Ecosphere Reserves worldwide and the first to achieve this certification, it’s a testament to sustainable tourism. I’m incredibly proud to call this place home and love sharing its magic and the experiences I grew up with.
