Jacó is THE surfer beach town of Costa Rica. And whilst not as sleepy as it used to be due to growing popularity, it still offers the best waves all year round, warm waters, great sport fishing and the liveliest nightlife on the Pacific coast.
Only a 2 hour drive from San Jose on the Central Pacific coastline, Jacó is still a favourite for Ticos (Costa Ricans) to escape to from the capital on the weekends and its lively yet laid back atmosphere attracts visitors from all over.
The area is characterised by Playa Hermosa for the hard-core surfers, Playa Herradura for relaxing and swimming and the Carara Biological Reserve, just 15 miles north, for its birds and wildlife.
