When to visit Rome
It’s possible to visit Rome all year round, although the weather may vary greatly between seasons. In the winter months (December to February), Rome is at its quietest, and weather is cool and potentially rainy, ideal for making the most of the city’s many museums. In summer, (June to August), temperatures soar, often averaging 32°C (90°F) – perfect for a cooling gelato, but you should be careful when spending large amounts of time outdoors.
The best time to visit Rome is during the shoulder months of March to May and September to November. Day time temperatures hover pleasantly between 15°C–25°C (59°F–77°F), perfect for wandering the city’s historic streets and landmarks, which are less busy than during the peak summer months.
