When to visit Asia for luxury rail journeys
Seasonal conditions vary greatly across Asia and within specific countries, so the best time for rail travel depends entirely on where you’re headed.
We highly recommend bespoke Japan rail tours in spring (March–May) or autumn (September–November) if you want to see cherry blossoms or autumn leaves from your window. These months are also ideal for visiting Vietnam’s central coast on The Vietage.
It’s important to consider each train’s seasonal schedules when planning your trip. For instance, the Eastern & Oriental Express operates year-round with an annual break in June, and available routes vary depending on the month.
The Vietage is also open almost all year with a month-long closure for maintenance that coincides with the Lunar New Year. The Kyushu Seven Stars offers limited routes during certain months of the year only.
