Seek out incredible animals and unforgettable adventures with your family
East Africa abounds with family-friendly fun and opportunities to make memories together. Whether you’re travelling with toddlers, teenagers or a mix of multiple generations, we can design luxury East Africa family tours that will keep everyone engaged from the first day to the last.
Kenya and Tanzania are ideal destinations for families, boasting legendary wildlife areas like the Maasai Mara and Serengeti National Park. Here you’ll find lodges that cater to guests of all ages with private safari guides, kid-friendly menus and educational activities like Maasai Warrior School.
For families with older children and teenagers, Rwanda and Uganda are fantastic choices. Family members aged 15 and up can go gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park or Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You can also see chimpanzees, monkeys, giraffes, lions and many other species on family safaris throughout both countries.
We highly recommend combining multiple destinations for a well-rounded family trip in East Africa. Speak with us to start designing a journey that features the very best of this amazing region, including exclusive experiences, carefully selected lodges and personalised itineraries for your family.

East Africa offers activities and accommodation for every type of family. If you're hoping to see the Great Migration, I suggest visiting Kenya and Tanzania outside of the busiest months (July–September) or staying in a quieter area like the Lamai Wedge.

When to visit East Africa
The best time for a family trip in East Africa is during the drier months of the year, when visibility is highest for wildlife spotting and the skies are clear and sunny.
The main dry season in Kenya and Tanzania falls from June to October. There’s a shorter dry season from January to February as well.
In Rwanda and Uganda there are also two dry seasons: June to August/September and December to February. These months are ideal for gorilla safaris and chimp trekking.
Shoulder season safaris in East Africa also offer some benefits, such as beautiful green landscapes and fewer visitors – which can be especially ideal for families hoping to avoid crowds.
