Immerse yourself in the biodiverse habitats of this tropical archipelago
There are more than 17,000 islands in Indonesia, and each of them is unbelievably rich in wildlife. Here you’ll have the chance to encounter some of the world’s rarest and most fascinating species on immersive tours that always prioritise animal welfare. We can help you design the perfect itinerary based on your interests and the creatures you’re hoping to see.
If you’re wondering where to see Komodo dragons, the answer is intuitive: these mythical reptiles inhabit the islands of Komodo National Park, which are also among the best places for wildlife photography in Indonesia. If orangutans are at the top of your list, head to Sumatra or Kalimantan (the Indonesian part of Borneo). The vast Sulawesi is a haven for endangered species, including the crested black macaque and the babirusa, or ‘deer-pig.’
The waters of Indonesia are also home to an astonishing array of marine life, with thousands of fish species and marine mammals like dugongs, dolphins and whales. Set out on a wildlife yacht tour of Indonesia to visit the best spots for snorkelling, diving and whale watching. The islands of Raja Ampat, located within the Coral Triangle, are especially ideal for underwater exploration.

Indonesia’s tropical climate means it’s warm all year round, but there are seasonal differences to consider. The best time to visit is generally the dry season from May to September, when the weather is ideal for outdoor activities and wildlife excursions. The shoulder months of April and October are also pleasant.
The rainy season runs from November to March across most of Indonesia, but its intensity varies by destination. It’s still possible to visit some islands, and this can be a great time to avoid the crowds. It’s also the best time of year to go snorkelling or diving in Raja Ampat thanks to calm waters and low rainfall.
