Experience adventure in this compact small-country charm
Laos is the perfect destination for a family trip. Its compact size, wealth of natural habitats, rich wildlife, history and small country charm make it an easy adventure for any family.
Let Jacada take you and your family there with all our care, superior service and established expertise; for an unforgettable trip to this enchanting and often overlooked country. We can also easily include Laos to a wider Indochina itinerary.
Get your family off the beaten track and create some amazing experiences as you trek on gentle elephants through the jungle and swim in secret waterfalls. Or if it’s a cultural insight you’re after, we can organise afternoons with rice farmers and visits to the rural hill tribes in the rugged countryside. While adventure is undoubtedly prevalent throughout the country, the hotels here provide the perfect retreat for peace and luxury.
The Jacada Difference
Head to Oudomxay to discover lush rain-forests and unearth the traditional Lao lifestyle in friendly tribal villages.
Steal views of water buffalo’s bathing and fishermen flinging nets in Don Daeng.
Attempt to catch a glimpse of the rare Irrawaddy river dolphin on the Mekong river.
Incredible family-friendly accommodation.
For families heading out to Indochina, I would always recommend a few days in Laos. Its quiet, relaxed towns feel super safe and its spectacular mountainous scenery is ripe for exploring: take a private boat trip up the Mekong River and hike to turquoise waterfalls, taking a dip in their pools to cool off and enjoying a picnic nearby.

The former capital city of Luang Prabang boasts a multitude of attractions, including vividly-coloured temples, cascading waterfalls, and French-colonial architecture. Wander down the busy streets and discover the ancient monasteries, hunt for bargains in the night markets, and cycle anywhere between the old quarter to the rugged mountains beyond the city limits.

Don Daeng
This island is part of the 4,000 islands that make up the picturesque riverine archipelago. Here you can venture out on foot or bicycle and take the time to witness the natural beauty and unspoilt charm of the island, or travel to the nearby town of Champasak to traipse around the pretty wooden houses and small restaurants along the waterfront.

Vientiane
Vientiane retains a laid-back charm bereft of most capital cities, and its compact size makes it easy to explore on foot. There’s a pleasing lack of traffic as a result. Climb atop a replica of Paris’s Arc de Triomphe and enjoy the views from the deck or visit Ho Phra Keo, a scenic temple complex set in immaculate gardens.

Oudomxay Province
Nestled within the fertile rainforest, this region is home to over 500 villages where traditional life still prevails, all waiting to educate you on their languages and customs. Some of our favourite sights around the region include the tranquil Huay Nam Kat Waterfall and the expansive, cathedral-like Chom Ong Cave, from which the Nam Kaeng River flows.
