Luxury Oman family tours with adventure
At the confluence of the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea, Oman is an incredible destination for families. Your adventure here will be exciting and varied, into the mountains, through deserts and along coastlines. And, you’ll learn about culture, cuisine, history and wildlife.
Your family vacation in Oman begins in Muscat, with its gleaming marble mosques and waterfront promenades. Accompanied by a local guide, visit Mutrah Souk with its spices, frankincense and jewellery (Omani silverwork is excellent), and take a traditional dhow cruise along the coastline to enjoy dolphin and whale watching. Spend a few days camping out at Wahiba Sands, also known as Sharqiya Sands, enjoying sand dune adventures, sunrise camel rides and evening meals served on Persian rugs under the stars.
In Oman’s far north, the isolated and mountainous Musandam Peninsula offers spectacular cruising in crystal-clear waters, and in the far south the little-visited city of Salalah turns lush and green in the monsoon rains, and there are palm forests, beaches and wadis to explore. From here, journey into Oman’s Empty Quarter – part of the largest sand desert on earth – to experience the nomadic lifestyle of the Bedouin people.

When to visit Oman
For warm daytime temperatures perfect for city sightseeing, hiking and exploring the vast desert regions, the best time to visit Oman is spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November). It’s possible to see turtles at Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve year-round, although the hot summer months from June to August offer the best viewing. Temperatures can exceed 40°C (104°F).
The Oman monsoon season is from June to September, but is isolated to the Dhofar province (it’s a beautiful time to visit Salalah, which is transformed to a verdant green), and it’s worth checking with your travel designer when Ramadan is, as some places may close.
