Located in a restored colonial building in the historic centre of Paraty, is the beautiful heritage hotel, Pousada Literária. Its name is inspired by the annual literary festival which takes place in the town every year, and next door to the hotel you’ll find the Marés bookshop. There are more than 4,000 books and visitors can browse the titles with a cup of coffee and a pastry from the cafe.

There are a range of spacious suites, elegant in design and with splashes of colour from the textiles and artwork on the walls. There are also villas with kitchens and living rooms for those looking for a little more space. The Quintal das Letras restaurant offers traditional Caiçara cuisine and has adopted the farm-to-table concept to ensure guests really do benefit from the wonderful local ingredients.

There is an outdoor swimming pool as well as some a lovely shaded terrace and a small garden. The hotel also has its own schooner, the Maria Panela, on which you can explore the landscapes of Saco do Mamanguá, the only tropical fjord on the Brazilian coast.
