Experience the rhythm of rural Nepalese life amongst idyllic Terai scenery at this peaceful wilderness retreat. Nestled on the fringe of a traditional Tharu village, Tharu Lodge is reached by a short bullock-cart ride from the Narayani River, the natural boundary between Chitwan National Park and the surrounding townships.
The lodge is designed in local longhouse style and features 12 rooms. Surrounded by lush forest, it is the perfect place to unwind. Besides exploring the national park, there are options for a boat safari down the peaceful Narayani River and birdwatching tours.
There is also a small pool and lovely gardens in which to relax. Many of the ingredients used in the lodge’s kitchen come from their own vegetable garden as well as from local farmers.
There are eight resident elephants at the lodge and you can spend time getting to know these gentle giants. Those looking for a cultural exchange can also enjoy visiting the local villages and schools.
