Aarhus is located on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula. While often overlooked for the capital, the coastal city has gradually been gaining attention with restaurants here being awarded the first Michelin stars in Denmark outside Copenhagen, a regenerated waterfront, and excellent art galleries – notably the ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum – and the city was the 2017 European Capital of Culture.

Another of Aarhus’ favourite attractions is its Old Town, created from rebuilt and restored timber buildings collected from across the country, some dating as far back as the 16th century. Explore numerous workshops, stores, gardens, diners, a school and theater to visit, with museum staff working in the roles of town figures giving the illusion of a ‘living’ town.
