        Itinerary in detail

Every Jacada trip is tailored to your personal preferences and interests. Below you’ll find a sample itinerary to inspire your own custom-designed journey.

        Days 1–3

Start in the heart of modern Brazilian culture

One of Latin America’s most exciting cities, Rio de Janeiro pulsates with eclectic energy. Embrace the laidback Carioca lifestyle, exploring emblematic icons such as Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain and moving to the rhythms of samba and bossa nova. Your expert guide will acquaint you with the city’s irresistible allure through a selection of hand-picked private tours.

        A Carioca Day

Close up of carnaval goers in Brazil wearing bright blue and green costumes and playing percussion instruments

Begin your exploration on two wheels, cycling along the beachfront between the glorious Ipanema and Copacabana beaches. Watch as the city gives way to greenery as you approach the Janeiro Botanical Garden – one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world.

After a relaxing lunch, dial up the excitement with a behind-the-scenes visit to Samba City, the warehouse complex where the city’s best samba schools prepare for Carnaval. Gain a fascinating insight into the production of the larger than life floats and intricately beautiful costumes – if you’re tempted, you can even try some on for the full Carnaval experience.

        Days 3–6

        See Brazil's most spectacular waterfalls

Straddling the border with Argentina with more than 250 cascades, Iguassu Falls is the largest waterfall system on Earth.

Feel its immense power on private boat trips near the base of the falls. Or venture onto elevated walkways to witness its sheer scale from a different perspective. As you explore, keep your eyes peeled for red ibises and bare-throated bellbirds flitting between the sub-tropical forests bordering the falls.

        Explore the Argentinian side

Cross the border into Argentina to walk winding walkways that bring you even closer to the thunderous falls. One of the most astonishing sights of the Argentinian side is the Garganta del Diablo or ‘Devil’s Throat’. Here marvel as several cascades join to form the system’s most powerful waterfall, where immense torrents of water crash against rocks.

        Days 6–10

Deep in the world's largest tropical wetland

The Pantanal holds the highest concentration of wildlife in South America. While staying at Caiman Lodge, you’re granted unrivalled access to this enormous wetland.

Spend your days exploring its immense biodiversity with seasoned naturalists. Track jaguars on exhilarating jeep safaris and boat trips. During guided walks, search for more than 350 bird species including brilliant blue, hyacinth macaws. As night falls and nature springs to life, discover elusive creatures such as ocelots and giant anteaters.

        Observe jaguars in the wild

The Pantanal has one of the highest jaguar densities on the planet. During your stay at Caiman Lodge, join Onçafari – a conservation-focused non-profit – to track these elusive big cats across open grasslands. On these thrilling safaris, you’re guided by a team committed to protecting and habituating the region’s jaguar population.

        Days 10–13

        Three final nights in Bonito

Journey south from the Pantanal to reach Bonito. Meaning ‘beautiful’ in Portuguese, you’ll soon begin to see that Bonito lives up to its name. Here, a limestone base purifies the water in its river systems and grottos, leading to almost astounding clarity. Spot an array of fish species while snorkelling in the Rio da Prata, or explore the network of caves and trails with a local guide.

Along the way, your guide will point out the thriving flora and abundant bird species and wildlife. Once you reach the refreshing waters of Olho D’água – the eye of the river, you’ll be mesmerised by its exceptionally clear waters. A world of aquatic life presents itself in the glass-like waters, ready to be explored. Finish your tour with a local lunch and reflect on the beauty of your surroundings.
