    Luxury Scotland Hiking Tours
    made for you

Explore Scotland’s hiking trails on a private trip designed just for you

Expert-led Scotland hiking tours with dramatic vistas

Scotland’s hiking trails trace some of the world’s most spectacular terrain, from the vast moorland wilderness areas of the Scottish Highlands, to the gentle slopes and ancient forests of the Scottish Lowlands. Discover the must-do hikes in Scotland, like the West Highland Way, the Great Glen Way and the Fife Coastal Path, but also explore less-travelled paths, crossing old stone bridges to meander through heather-clad valleys and tranquil glens. Even the capital city, Edinburgh, has exceptional trails, like those to Arthur’s Seat with its panoramic city views, and the peaceful pathways along the Water of Leith.

Scotland’s West Coast and Islands deliver a rich cultural heritage with cairns, standing stones, stone circles and medieval fortifications. You’ll witness breathtaking coastal scenery with towering sea cliffs, white-sand beaches, lochs and lonely inlets. Island hop between the Inner and Outer Hebrides, spend time walking on the Isle of Skye with its jagged Cuillin ridge, and explore from Glasgow to the Trossachs and Loch Lomond, and Fort William to the Torridon Mountains. Over on Scotland’s East Coast, the Cairngorms National Park showcases the United Kingdom’s largest area of high ground, a plateau with extreme temperatures and spectacular terrain. The Cairngorms is home to ancient Caledonian pine forests and some of Britain’s highest peaks – the perfect place for bagging a Munro (the Scottish phrase used to describe summiting a mountain), but also uncovering gentle woodland and river walks.

Our travel designers will plan you a personalised Scotland hiking tour, featuring expert-led gentle, moderate or challenging hikes in a phenomenal landscape steeped in history, legend and beauty.

When to visit Scotland for hiking

Scotland offers year-round appeal, though late spring (MayJune) and early autumn (SeptemberOctober) provide ideal conditions for hiking, plus wildflowers and heather are in bloom. The shoulder seasons also avoid the busiest summer months, though summer also offers the longest days (around the Summer Solstice in mid-June, daylight hours can be up to 18 hours).

Rain remains unpredictable throughout the year, with Highland weather proving especially changeable, but winter does often see snowfall, and lower altitude trails offer hauntingly beautiful scenery.

Midges make their presence known from May until September, and are usually more prevalent on the west coast than east coast.
