Action-packed Galápagos Islands adventure tours on land and sea

Located 600 miles (1,000km) off the coast of Ecuador, the isolated island ecosystem of the Galápagos archiepelego has shaped our understanding of evolution. Much of the islands’ wildlife is endemic – found nowhere else in the world – and unafraid of people. Sea lions swim close by when you’re snorkelling, blue-footed boobies perform elaborate mating dances while you observe and giant tortoises will often lumber right by when you’re hiking in the Santa Cruz highlands.

An unforgettable adventure destination, the Galápagos Islands can be explored on land-based excursions or by cruise (or we can arrange a personalised trip that combines each of them). Land-based stays in lodges and safari-style camps offer the flexibility to explore at your own pace – a great option for families or visitors who want to plan something a little more bespoke – while luxury Galápagos cruises mean that you can visit more islands, hopping aboard zodiac boats to remote shorelines and hidden coves where iguanas bask on the black volcanic rocks.

However you explore, your adventure tour respects the fragile environment of one of the largest marine protected areas in the world, and you will be accompanied by an expert naturalist who will deepen your appreciation of the conservation efforts that keep the Galápagos pristine. Get in touch with our Latin America travel designers for a tailor-made tour of this true adventure destination.

When to visit the Galápagos Islands

The Galápagos offers exceptional wildlife viewing year-round – temperatures don’t fluctuate dramatically as the archipelago is on the equator, and the seasons are warm and wet (December to April) and cool and dry (May to November). Peak season tends to coincide with school holidays.

Between December and April the calm seas are ideal for cruising and snorkelling – this is also the nesting (and turtle hatching) season. May to November features cooler, windier conditions with nutrient-rich currents attracting whales and dolphins.
