At a glance
There are few places more magical in winter than Swedish Lapland. This family adventure takes in three secluded spots in Lapland as well as the elegant capital of Sweden, Stockholm.
Your trip begins at the Arctic Retreat in the Råne River Valley, north of the Arctic Circle. As well as being a wonderful place to relax and enjoy your beautiful surroundings, there are plenty of excursions from cross-country skiing to snow-shoe walks, where you’ll head out in search of the awe-inspiring natural light display, the Northern Lights.
Next, you’ll spend a night at the one-of-a-kind Treehotel. Kids and big kids alike will revel in the chance to climb up into this giant treehouse, complete with Scandinavian-chic decor. Here, you’ll spend your evening nestled high up in the pine forest canopy, several metres above the ground. From this vantage point, you’ll be treated to spectacular views of the Lule River, snow-covered forest and winter skies.
As you make your way to the award-winning eco-camp, Sápmi Nature Camp, you’ll stop in the Sami village of Jokkmokk to learn about the culture and traditions of the Sami People. During your time at the camp, you’ll get to see how people live in this unique environment and what Sami life looks like in the 21st century. The whole family will love the chance to walk in the shoes of a reindeer herder and get close to these majestic animals.
As your Lapland adventure draws to a close, you’ll head back to civilisation. Your final stop is the beautiful city of Stockholm where you can explore its fantastic museums, galleries and charming streets.

Overview
Arctic Retreat is a little gem hidden deep in the forests of Swedish Lapland, on the banks of the Råne River.
There are three log cabins, one of which is a family cabin sleeping up to four people. Each features a bathroom, fireplace and private outdoor Jacuzzi. Large panoramic windows allow you to enjoy your surroundings – the pale haze of an early morning and the sprinkling of stars on a clear night is truly magical. There is also a wood-fired sauna in a separate building.
The lodge is ownded by a local family who moved from the city of Luleå to the countryside in order to create this idyllic hideaway. Hosts will be on hand during your stay should you need anything. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included and food will be high-end local cuisine prepared according to the season.
There is so much to do during a stay at Arctic Retreat from snowmobile safaris and husky rides to Nordic skiing and wilderness skills tours.

Head out after dinner in search of the Northern Lights. You need good weather conditions and a clear sky, but if you do spot them then it's an experience that stays with you forever. Don't forget your camera, you'll definitely want to capture the beautiful colours and memory of the world's greatest natural light show.
Today, you'll head off on a cross-country skiing adventure deep in the forest. Traditional Nordic skiing is a fantastic way to experience the nature of Swedish Lapland. After being fitted out with your winter clothing and cross-country skis, you'll enjoy a half-day trip in the forest looking for wildlife tracks and learning about the boreal forests of the Arctic region. Halfway through, you'll stop for outdoor fika, which includes tea/coffee and a snack. Continue through the spectacular landscapes, weaving through the huge pine forests where you may even spot a moose or a black grouse.
This evening, you'll be able to try walking with snowshoes. With the stars twinkling above you and endless nature all around you, you'll head off with a guide in search of the stunning aurora borealis.

More than simply cabins tucked away in a forest, the rooms at this contemporary treehouse hotel in Harads are marvels of engineering and works of art, designed with sustainability principles in mind. Whether you’re relaxing on the net patio of the Seventh Room, or gazing out over the forest from the Dragonfly, your stay will be exceptional, luxurious and truly memorable. The seven unique rooms are situated above ground in a pine forest, a celebration of design, taste and nature.
The Seventh Room is located ten metres up in the trees, boasting panoramic windows, which offer views of the Lule River, and skylights in the bedrooms are ideal for admiring the Northern Lights. The patio level is a net, stretched around the trunk of a pine tree, allowing you to lie back and listen to the sounds of the forest. The room itself is luxuriously modern with Scandinavian wood and fine textures.
The other vastly different rooms include The Cabin, The UFO, The Bird’s Nest, The Mirror Cube, The Blue Cone and the Dragonfly.
Britta’s Pensionat, a short walk from the rooms, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a 1930s-50s setting. The menu changes daily according to what fresh produce is available. Guests can enjoy the bar, television area, sauna and relaxation area. There are a variety of activities for guests to participate in depending on the season, including hiking, mountain biking, moose safaris, fishing and photography.

Overview
Set under the northern lights in winter, and the midnight sun during the summer months, this unique hotel set in the wilderness of Swedish Lapland encompasses suites and cabins, positioned on both land and over the Lule River. Overview
Sápmi Nature Camp an authentic, personal and sustainable camp that is a fabulous place from which to experience the unspoiled nature of Swedish Lapland above the Arctic Circle.
The camp consists of up to five traditional lavvu tents comfortably furnished with double beds, wood-fired stoves and simple Sami furniture, each stood on a wooden platform, spread out around a small cabin close to a central cabin with a dining room and warm outhouse.
Run by Lennart Pittja who grew up in a reindeer herding Sami family here, continuing a tradition that dates back thousands of years, you can expect an intimate experience of not only the wilderness, but of the unique culture here which the camp aims to envelop guests in.
There’s no electricity in the camp at all and during the winter light come from fire, candles, kerosene lamps and battery LED-lamps, but with the moon, stars and northern lights reflecting in the snow, it’s not as dark as you’d expect. In the summer, the camp perfectly placed for long summer days.
