Killiehuntly Farmhouse sits at the foot of the Cairngorms near Kingussie. Around it lie meadows and the mountains of Glen Feshie, deep in the Scottish Highlands.

Built as a farmhouse in the 1800s, it has been restored with a Scandinavian-inspired interior using Douglas fir, oak, wool and linen – all preserving its original character in the stone walls and timber beams. The farmhouse is part of WildLand’s conservation work supporting deer management, peatland protection, native planting and biodiversity monitoring across the estate.

You can stay in the nearby hayloft with space for just two guests, or book one of the two self-catering cottages. The Killiehuntly Bothy is ideal for families with children, while Geordie’s Cottage can host groups of up to five people.

Before dinner, there is time to settle into one of the sitting rooms with a piece of cake or a drink from the honesty bar. Later, the dining table becomes the centre of the evening. Menus are seasonal with produce sourced from the property’s own kitchen garden and nearby Highland farms and estates.

Active adventures include walking trails into Glen Feshie and Cairngorms National Park, or cycling along Highland tracks. A nearby loch and river offer opportunities for wild swimming, followed by a session in the wood-fired sauna yurt. You can also go fly fishing, pony trekking, kayaking and wildlife watching in this remote corner of Scotland.
