A grove of Kigelia trees is home to this simple tented camp, a location in the best game area of Ruaha National Park with a focus on the essence of safari. There are just six tents, each opening out onto the beauty of the natural bush setting. The tents are furnished with locally crafted wooden furniture and en suite bathrooms with a wonderful safari-style outdoor bucket showers. One of the tents is the family tent which has two adjoining bedrooms. The camp kitchen whips up some tasty feasts – simple but satisfying meals served in the intimate dining tent or better still, outside under the stars. Like all bush camps, there’s a camp-fire where the essential sundowner can be enjoyed as the hot day gives way to cool night. Being in one of Africa’s biggest game spots, the thing to do is to get out and explore on game drives and walking safaris with expert guides. Kigelia’s lovely location is also an attractive spot for local birdlife and many an early morning or afternoon can be spent wondering around camp with a pair of binoculars to see what’s around.

With views over a picturesque curve in the Rufiji River, Sand Rivers Selous is ideally located for some prime game sightings. Landscapes including woodlands, lakes and wide open plains are home to a plethora of wildlife and give you the chance to see some spectacular creatures. Whether you explore the surrounding area by car, boat or on foot, you will be well cared for and in the hands of some wonderful guides. Lions and wild dog are common sightings and you could follow the elephant tracks as they span the savannahs. Buffalo are in huge numbers in this reserve and should be given a wide berth but on the back of a vehicle you will be awed by the sheer numbers that congregate here. Two types of rooms are available; 5 Riverside Rooms and 3 Hillside Suites. The Riverside Rooms are all open fronted and have been elevated on to platforms to maximise your views over the river and woodland beyond. Designed with a modern Africa touch, they are luxurious to behold and extremely comfortable. The Hillside Suites are extremely spacious and open plan, and also have their own private lounge area for you to enjoy some significant privacy. Each of these suites have their own private pool which is extremely refreshing in the heat of the afternoon.

Kuro is tucked away within a secluded wilderness at the heart of the Tarangire National Park. Immerse yourself in Tanzania’s wild beauty and encounter captivating creatures, whilst surrounded by acacia groves and kigali trees on the banks of the Tarangire river. As an authentic tented camp, Kuro has a rustic safari feel with a comfortable, cosy and relaxed atmosphere. The six stylish safari tents are spacious and comfortable with private verandahs and spectacular views over the African bush. Each is en-suite with bucket showers and eco-flush toilets, solar lighting is also used to minimise their environmental footprint. The family tent has two en-suite bedrooms and an adjoining sitting area. Relax under the thatched roof lounge area to escape the mid day sun. Dine under the stars together with other guests, indulging in fresh and locally sourced fare. The area is rich in wildlife and high levels of guiding here will enhance your experience. An excellent location for game viewing, watch out for the big buffalo herds, elephant families and sightings of gerenuk, the rare antelope. Rarely for a camp in a National Park, guests can enjoy both day and night game drives, as well as walking safaris directly from camp into the open plains and baobab studded woodland.
