Kuro Tarangire

Tranquil safari style
Kuro is tucked away within a secluded wilderness at the heart of the Tarangire National Park. Immerse yourself in Tanzania’s wild beauty and encounter captivating creatures, whilst surrounded by acacia groves and kigali trees on the banks of the Tarangire river.
As an authentic tented camp, Kuro has a rustic safari feel with a comfortable, cosy and relaxed atmosphere. The six stylish safari tents are spacious and comfortable with private verandahs and spectacular views over the African bush. Each is en-suite with bucket showers and eco-flush toilets, solar lighting is also used to minimise their environmental footprint. The family tent has two en-suite bedrooms and an adjoining sitting area. Relax under the thatched roof lounge area to escape the mid day sun. Dine under the stars together with other guests, indulging in fresh and locally sourced fare.
The area is rich in wildlife and high levels of guiding here will enhance your experience. An excellent location for game viewing, watch out for the big buffalo herds, elephant families and sightings of gerenuk, the rare antelope. Rarely for a camp in a National Park, guests can enjoy both day and night game drives, as well as walking safaris directly from camp into the open plains and baobab studded woodland.

Places to combine Kuro Tarangire with

Etosha National Park
Encounter by Ongava is an intimate safari camp set within Ongava Game Reserve, on the southern edge of Etosha National Park. You’ll be surrounded by Mopane woodland and wildlife moving freely through the landscape.
There are eight spacious walk-in tents: seven standard tents and one paired tent that works well for families or small groups. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with an outdoor shower and a private deck.
You can head out on game drives across the 30,000-hectare Ongava Game Reserve. The area is known for its rhino population, as well as lion, zebra and antelope, including the endemic black-faced impala. We especially recommend private guided nature walks, where you can slow down, appreciate the small details and explore with minimal impact. There may be the chance to approach white rhino on foot, as well as spend time bird watching.
For a wider safari experience, take a guided excursion into nearby Etosha National Park, Namibia’s prime savannah wilderness area. At the Ongava Visitor Centre, learn about the region’s geology, wildlife, plants and ecology.
Back at camp, slow down by the pool, settle into the library or gather at the bar as evening falls. The day softens into drinks, quiet conversation and the sounds of the reserve.
