Escape to a secret island surrounded by turquoise waters and make yourself at home in a comfortable villa inspired by beach house romance and elegance. With a colour palette inspired by the surrounding nature and pops of ocean hues, the villa offers five air-conditioned suites which lead onto a pool and outdoor living spaces. There are two traditional bandas (beach chalets) that are filled with furniture hand-carved by local artisans and soft fabrics from Mafia Island.

In the large living area you’ll find an indoor aquarium, and there’s also an impressive wine collection, a gym and a library. The executive chef will be in touch ahead of your stay to discuss your dining requirements, before crafting a delectable menu especially for you. During your time on the island you can choose to dine under the stars and also enjoy barbecues and pizzas, sizzling from the oven.

The team at Thanda Island includes butlers, guides and spa therapists, all on hand to ensure you’re as comfortable as possible during your island escape.

Serengeti National Park

Singita Mara Camp

Singita Mara River Tented Camp is located on the northern banks of the world-renowned Mara River in the Lamai triangle and is celebrated for its annual wildebeest migration crossings. The Lamai triangle covers 40,000 hectares (98,000 acres) of the northern most tip of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, neatly slotted between the Masai Mara National Park in Kenya in the north, and the Mara River in the south. The Lamai triangle is a unique area of Tanzania due to its distinctive soil composition resulting in one of the highest year round concentrations of wildlife in the Serengeti National Park. Singita Mara River Tented Camp consciously seeks to eliminate the use of unnecessary energy and non-biodegradable materials. In keeping with this concept, the camp is truly ‘off the grid’ and relies entirely on a custom designed solar power array and uses recycled and natural materials.

Ruaha National Park

Jabali Ridge is located atop a rocky kopje, within the wildlife-rich Ruaha National Park. Surrounded by boulders, palms and baobab trees, the camp consists of eight suites and one private house. Suites feature private balconies from which you can look out over the Mwagusi River, and louvered shutters can be opened up to really bring you close to your surroundings, or closed for privacy. En suite bathrooms are complete with flushing toilets and hot running water. Enjoy delicious food cooked by the camp’s chefs, including homemade bread, cakes, biscuits and ice cream. Breakfast can be enjoyed out on your game drive or back at camp, then lunch is enjoyed in the mess tent while dinner is a three-course affair served under the stars. When you’re not out spotting wildlife – the area is home to large numbers of lion, leopard, cheetah and elepahnt – you can take a dip in the infinity pool, enjoy a refreshing drink on your private deck or relax with a book in the lounge.

Nyerere National Park

Sheltered by a forest of palms, this beautiful lodge sits right on the banks of a lake formed by the Rufiji River that flows through this massive ecosystem. The camp consists of two sites; North and South. North Camp has six tents and South Camp has seven, and each location has its own swimming pool in which to enjoy a midday splash, as well as a jetty. Either can be booked as a private camp. Each tented suite is extremely well appointed and features its own private veranda. You’ll have the chance to see large populations of crocodile basking in the sun and hippos bathing in the cooling waters. Animals wander freely through the camp and the noises of the wild African bush can be heard throughout the night. With a whole host of activities to involve you in your surroundings, the game experience at Siwandu camp is absolutely superb. Enjoy excellent game drives or venture out on foot with an expert guide to find the ‘little five’ – lion ant, buffalo weaver, elephant shrew, leopard tortoise and the rhino beetle.
