    Marataba Safari Lodge

Five star luxury in natural surroundings

    Explore the Marakele National Park

The experience at the Marataba Safari Lodge is one that manages to expertly bring together the romance of outdoor living and the thrill of wild exploration with the luxury standards of today by blending contemporary designs with the antiquated tented safari adventure.

The 15 luxurious canvas and stone tented suites are private sanctuaries, reflecting the natural surroundings with a contemporary twist, with bathrooms that have deep stone carved bath tubs as well as indoor and outdoor showers.

Game drives are the main focus with excellent opportunities to see wildlife, including big cats, while bush walks and bird watching offer a closer encounter with nature. Children are also catered for, with family game drives and special children’s activities available. Marataba Safari Lodge sits inside a private 23000 hectare private concession of the malaria free Marakele National Park, which now home to all of the Big Five, with buffalo recently reintroduced, abundant birdlife and flora.

    The impact of your stay:

    • Marataba Luxury Lodges, in collaboration with the Marataba Community & Conservation Foundation, is actively involved in the development of Heuningvley Primary School. This institution welcomes approximately 300 learners each year, ranging from grade 1 to grade 7, and supports children from nearby reserves, villages, and farms. Located on a remote farm, the school faces challenges with no access to water and electricity. The comprehensive school development plan includes the installation of water equipment, construction of a new ablution/sanitation block, the addition of a signboard, and the construction of a new kitchen.
    • The lodges operate entirely on 100% renewable energy and were meticulously designed to harmonise with the environment, minimising any invasive impact. This commitment to sustainability reflects their dedication to responsible practices.
