Brookdale Estate

An elegant country retreat
Set against the majestic Klein Drakenstein mountains in the heart of Paarl, Brookdale Estate features some of the region’s most innovative wine creations. The Rudd family recognised the immense potential of this estate and became its proud custodians. Their mission was clear: to craft a world-class country estate dedicated to producing exceptional wines and captivating blends, often derived from unique grape varieties rarely seen in South Africa.
Within the embrace of Brookdale Estate, you’ll discover an elegant Manor House graced with extensive gardens and a natural sanctuary of indigenous vegetation. Available on a per room and villa basis for up to 12 adults and two children, Brookdale Manor House holds five en-suite bedrooms in the main house with a sixth private en-suite bedroom in the adjacent building. The living spaces, such as a living room, a dining room, a library and a kitchen, are large and airy. Head outside onto one of the multiple terraces to marvel at the panoramic views of the dramatic mountains and wine valleys. The gardens, pool house, and pool terrace are the perfect spaces to bask in the sunshine with a chilled glass from the Brookdale wine range.
You can also reserve a vineyard or manor suite within the house.

Places to combine Brookdale Estate with

The Kalahari
The malaria free Tswalu Reserve, owned by the Oppenheimer family, consists of over 100,000 hectares of the ‘green’ Kalahari grasslands home to eighty mammal species and 340 varieties of bird.
Furthermore, the reserve is not further divided up into concessions or reserves and the only accommodation is the Motse Camp and Tarkuni House, which only allow for a maximum of thirty guests at one time in the entire of Tswalu. If you are staying for three nights or more you’ll also get a complimentary private vehicle, guide and tracker to make this your very own private Kalahari. The motto is, if you see another Range Rover on your game drives, complain.
And whilst you really couldn’t get any further from a package holiday, the accommodation at Tswalu truly does have it all ‘wrapped up’ as far as a five-star safari lodge goes, with more luxury, authenticity, exclusivity and conscientiousness than any other in Africa. Having won awards for both their spa and conservation work, you just have to see the efforts they make to look after the wildlife and support local communities to know the lengths they go to look after you.
