The Kruger, South Africa

Saseka Tented Camp

A stylish and contemporary safari camp

Naturally stunning with modern touches

Saseka is the Tsonga word for ‘beautiful’ and this stunning camp, situated in the exclusive Thornybush Nature Reserve within the greater Kruger National Park, is certainly that. The camp is constructed from natural materials; polished stone and wooden roofs are complemented with soft furnishings in natural muted tones and large glowing globes made of rice paper.

There are just 9 luxurious rooms at the camp and, although the nostalgia of a classic safari tented camp has been respected, there’s a distinctive modern and fresh feel at Saseka. The addition of floor to ceiling glass doors means natural light floods in and guests have a privileged, stunning view over the bush from the comfort of their room.

The little touches of comfort and modernity continue with air conditioning in the tented suites and large ensuite bathrooms (also with beautiful views) that feature double basins, large roll top bath and rain shower. Each room has its own private outdoor deck with a shower, plunge pool and large comfortable deck chairs.

The camp offers guests a comfortable main social area with split level decking, a bar and restaurant. The camp is in a game-rich and Big Five area so expect excellent wildlife viewing either from camp or on a variety of safari experiences such as game drives, night drives and bushwalks.

For small groups or families, look no further than Little Saseka, a perfect private residence that includes a main tented suite for 2 adults and 2 children, a sunken outdoor lounge and fire pit as well as an indoor lounge area. The surrounding tents can be booked for exclusive use for larger groups.

Motse Camp

The Kalahari

Motse Camp

Tswalu Kalahari Reserve’s main camp, Motse, sits at the foot of the Korannaberg mountains. The architecture is inspired by and reflects the landscape, fully enveloping you into the safari experience; local smoothed stone, red clay and traditional Kalahari thatch are surrounded and hung with natural textiles, thick linens and seagrass that contrast well with varying textures and woven patterns. The effect is authentic, earthy, neutral, yet with a luxuriously refined feel.

Making your stay here even more special is the fact that the camp is fully committed to protecting the wildlife and environment and supporting the local community, as evidenced by their ongoing projects.

There are eight small houses in the camp: six one-bedroom suites and two two-bedroom family suites. All have indoor and outdoor showers, en-suite bathrooms, fireplaces, WiFi and private sundecks where you can sink into your cushioned rattan armchairs to watch one of the stunning sunsets or stare at an ever-clear night sky.
