        Days 1–4

        Welcome to Mexico City

Mexico City stands as one of the world’s greatest cultural capitals, where the remnants of the Aztec empire of Tenochtitlán form the foundation for a metropolis that has evolved into Mexico’s artistic and intellectual centre. The city houses extraordinary institutions like the Museo Nacional de Antropología and the Palacio de Bellas Artes, while its neighbourhoods – from Coyoacán to Roma Norte – serve as living galleries with street art, festivals, craft markets and eclectic performance spaces.

Historic centre and National Museum of Anthropology

Your private guide will collect you from your hotel for a tour of Mexico City’s historic centre, including the atmospheric Zócalo city square with the National Palace and Metropolitan Cathedral, plus if time allows, the Palace of Fine Arts. After lunch, you’ll visit the world-famous National Museum of Anthropology to explore fascinating exhibitions including the Aztec and Maya rooms.

An evening of Lucha Libre (Mexican wrestling)

At the legendary Arena Mexico, you’ll witness Mexico’s beloved lucha libre wrestling as masked fighters dressed as superheroes and villains clash in the ring in front of a roaring crowd. Your guide will fill you in on the storylines while these athletic performers deliver spectacular high-flying action.

        Xochimilico

Be guided through the canal network of this UNESCO World Heritage site on a colourful trajinera – a traditional painted boat – surrounded by a lively floating fiesta. Mariachi bands paddle by playing music, flower sellers offer bright bouquets and vendors sell cold beers and hot quesadillas. Your guide will share how the Aztecs built floating gardens called chinampas to grow their food right on the water.

The remarkable site of the Teotihuacan Pyramids

En-route to San Miguel de Allende, stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Teotihuacan pyramids in the valley of Mexico to take a hot air balloon flight over the ruins.

        Days 4–7

Art and culture in San Miguel de Allende

In the central highlands city of San Miguel de Allende, Baroque mansions and neo-Gothic churches are the backdrop to a thriving creative community of painters, sculptors, writers, and artisans from all around the world. The historic quarter with its narrow cobblestone streets and hidden courtyards is home to artist studios and galleries, and the city hosts numerous festivals, including Day of the Dead celebrations.

        Days 7–10

Beaches and boutiques in Todos Santos

Todos Santos is on Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, between the Pacific coast and the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains. Once a missionary outpost and sugar cane hub, the town has evolved into a haven for local and international artists, with colourful colonial architecture now housing charming galleries, artisan markets and cultural festivals. There’s a warm desert climate, excellent farm-to-table restaurants and unspoilt beaches, which offer world-class surf, whale watching and leatherback turtle hatchings.
