    Campeche, Mexico

    Hacienda Puerta Campeche

Cozy Colonial Hotel in the Historic Centre. Amazing Pool.

Tucked into the historic centre of Campeche and behind heavy mahogany doors, Hacienda Puerta is an absolute delight of a 17th-century urban Mexican mansion-turned-hotel.

A characteristic blend of faded yellows, oranges, terracotta and rusty reds meet you, and its typical Colonial-style rooms echo a sober, refined elegance fitted out with the usual modern amenities for high comfort.

One of the most stunning features is its wonderful labyrinth-style swimming pool that snakes around and under the property through arches, courtyards and alcoves, out into its tropical gardens. Another is its rooftop terrace giving you gorgeous views out over the twinkling rooftops of the city and on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, you’ll see the spectacle of ‘La Puerta de Tierra’ (where the city’s old ramparts are lit up with light and sound to recreate the time when the Campechans used to defend their city against pirates) too.

The staff are very friendly and can set up dinner, lunch or breakfast anywhere you want in the grounds, and the restaurants specializes in some very fresh and delectable seafood.
