Idyllic beaches and green-fringed cliffs, the Budva Riviera is a popular stretch of Montenegrin coastline. The Adriatic Sea laps gently at warm sands or multi-coloured pebbles.

If you’re after a beach holiday you won’t be disappointed, as there are 12.5km of beaches to discover. Furthest north you’ll find Trsteno which boasts some of the finest sand on the Budva Riviera. As you head south you’ll happen upon Ploče, a stony beach which is great for swimming. Once a nudist beach, the pebbled beach of Jaz is a protected natural heritage site.

Just 150m from Budva’s old town is Mogren, two sandy beaches connected by a tunnel through the rock. Along the narrow path, thrill-seekers will find a small outlet between the rocks where the can dive safely into the waters below if they dare.

Budva’s main promenade runs along Slovenska beach, and this is where you’ll find most of the shopping and nightlife. Continuing south you’ll reach Bečići, considered to be among one of the prettiest and most well-equipped beaches in the South Adriatic.

One of the most popular sites to visit in the Budva area is the Sveti Nikola island which boasts three main sandy beaches, and a collection of smaller ones that are only accessible by boat.

While the beaches are definitely one of the region’s biggest drawcards, the ancient town of Budva is also well worth exploring. The modern section boasts a positively buzzing nightlife, and the adjacent old town is small and beautiful with charming medieval architecture, narrow alleyways, fine restaurants and a bay full of bobbing yachts.
