In true Six Senses style, the fifty-eight chic, eco-luxe villas at Ninh Van Bay are sustainably built, perfectly private and redefine the term ‘barefoot luxury’. This resort focuses on the conservation of the wildlife in the area, paying special attention to the rare endangered monkeys and the coral reefs, and partaking in an array of programmes to go beyond environmental requirements and support the greater community.

Thatched roofs, deep wooden baths and natural linens create an earthy feel that instantly transports you to a feeling of truly being away from it all without compromising on modern comforts of Wi-Fi and fully loaded iPods, on request. The in-villa wine cellar ensures that guests have the perfect accompaniment to their private terrace with panoramic sea views.

There are three enticing dining options, such as a romantic eatery, overlooking the beach and a relaxed restaurant by the pool, as well as a wine cave and a cocktail bar. Clean, drinking water is available on-site from a reverse osmosis plant, and plastic bottles are banned from the resort.

Guests can also indulge in a variety of activities from hiking and tennis to island hopping and scuba diving in and around the bay. For an indulgent wellness experience, you can try the morning Tai Chi or yoga and take the Cai River excursions to immerse yourself in warm, mineral-rich mud and hot springs.

Positive Impact

Endangered monkey conservation

The forested hills surrounding the isolated bay are inaccessible by road and therefore protected from poaching and habitat encroachment by farming and development. These hills are blessed with a healthy community of rare Pygathrix Nigripes monkeys, the black shanked douc langur. The area that the resort protects extends into the hills and includes a reservoir often visited by the langurs during the dry season.

Protection of the coral reefs

Crown of thorn starfish is the main threat to coral as they prey on the reefs. In 2017, they implemented a sustainable way to remove them: mixing one part of vinegar and one part of lime juice then injecting the solution into their body. After they die, they are a natural source of food for the reef fish.

Collaboration with the Oceanography Institute

This resort collaborates with the Oceanography Institute to research and survey the coral and plan for its restoration. In 2019, they launched the coral restoration programme with a feasibility study, which is expected to successfully nurse more than 80% of transplanted coral pieces back to health.

Earth Lab

Earth Lab is a dedicated space located close to the resort’s entrance near the jetty, acting as an information centre where they share their sustainability projects and initiatives. Earth Lab also reveals scientific yet practical facts and figures that offer awareness and impart information to persuade visitors to modify their daily behaviour and encourage sustainable practices. The tour is a chance to gain insights into the resort’s sustainability projects and initiatives, such as the mushroom hut, organic garden, chicken farm, alembic distilling, water treatment and solar hot water system.

School and university support

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay has provided computers and other equipment to schools in the Luong Son and Ninh Van areas so that the teachers and students have a more effective way of teaching and learning.

This resort also supports Nha Trang University students on their three-to four-day charitable trips to remote communities to provide life skill lessons and basic facilities, such as street lights, organic gardens, playgrounds for children and more. This activity not only supports ethnic groups but also helps to encourage students in doing good things and improve their organisational skills.
