Con Dao Six Senses is true to the collection’s philosophy of choosing remote destinations in areas of natural beauty for their chic eco-luxe properties. Con Dao is part of a protected national and marine park, the ideal location for a Six Senses resort with its strong commitment to sustainability. This resort makes every effort to protect its surrounding natural environment, support the local community and educate its guests about wildlife conservation.
Fifty luxury split-level pool villas offer private infinity plunge pools, panoramic ocean views, a dedicated butler service and a terrace with sun loungers. All contemporary comforts are catered for, including a Bose sound system and an iPod docking system.
The largest resort on the island and set on a mile-long secluded sandy beach with the dramatic backdrop of the Lo Voi Mountains, this hotel is an idyllic place to retreat from the world. The spa promises a range of therapeutic treatments as well as yoga and meditation. Guests can also golf off a deck, overlooking the sea, with golf balls that are biodegradable, partake in a range of water and beach sports and enjoy a turtle hatchling release experience.
A choice of two restaurants and two bars offer BBQs and picnics in a setting of your choice, fresh fish and Western and Vietnamese alternatives. Ingredients for dishes are sourced from the resort’s organic garden and the profits of mineral water, which is sold throughout the resort goes towards the establishment of a mineral water supply for children at a local school.
Green turtle conservation
This resort restored the beach to optimise egg-laying for green turtles and decrease the mortality rate of turtle hatchings. This ambitious project in cooperation with Con Dao National Park authorities included a safe incubation enclosure to protect eggs from threats such as poaching.
Six Senses Con Doa also conducted training programmes on sea turtle conservation in the local community, with a vision to involve more marine scientists in research projects on the future of the turtles around Con Dao.
Garden waste programme
This resort collects bio-waste from the kitchen which is then added to garden waste to make compost. The resulting product is used for the organic garden to increase fertility in the soil. The extensive organic garden grows more than 30 types of plants, including fruit, vegetables and herbs. This garden is also watered by treated wastewater.
Reusable glass bottles
Still and sparkling re-mineralised drinking water is provided to all guests and hosts from an on-site reverse osmosis plant. Water is bottled in reusable glass bottles to limit the use of plastic bottles. This saves around 10,000 plastic bottles per month from polluting the landfill and being abandoned in other areas.
Six Senses Con Doa also organises a wide range of activities, from teaching English to raising environmental awareness for school children. English classes are conducted three times each week, with enthusiastic guests invited to share their English-speaking skills. They run monthly environmental workshops involving kindergarten children and have introduced a series of life-skill activities to the community.
Whatever you want your luxury tour or safari itinerary to include, we’ll create something fully bespoke for you… and only you.
