Ngapali Beach, Myanmar
Bayview Beach Resort

Varied options for beachside chilling, suitable for families and couples
Right on the sandy shores of Ngapali, the Bayview Beach Resort has 45 simply decorated, but comfortable bungalows, rooms and suites in which guests can stay for some relaxed beach time in Burma’s premier seaside destination.
Families are just as welcome at the Bayview as couples, with the larger suites housing two bedrooms. All the spacious accommodation options have either a view of the gardens or the beach, and private courtyards and terraces.
There are two restaurants with a choice of western and eastern cuisine. The Catch is where you can sample Asian dishes and fresh seafood, and it’s in the Sunset Bar that you can satisfy any cravings for sandwiches and pizzas, along with a cocktail or two during happy hour. In the Lobby Cafe, high tea is served.
A swimming pool with a sundeck and a massage/beauty centre mean you can easily spend your time chilling out in the hotel, but equally, an array of activities offer plenty of options for those with itchy feet. Naturally, the beachside setting means water sports are high on the agenda, with activities including kayaking, snorkelling, windsurfing, hobie cat sailing and fishing.

Places to combine Bayview Beach Resort with

Phuket
Tucked away on the fringes of Khao Sok National Park, one of Thailand’s most ancient and biodiverse rainforests, Thanyamundra Organic Resort offers an intimate sanctuary with nine guestrooms. The setting is mesmerising: a patchwork of cultivated organic farmland gently gives way to dense jungle, while mist drifts across rolling emerald hills in the early morning.
Two teakwood residences, built in traditional Thai style, house the guest rooms. Within, antique furnishings add a sense of heritage and handwoven textiles bring warmth and colour.
Begin with yoga at dawn or a leisurely walk among rice paddies and vegetable gardens, before setting out to discover the wonders of the rainforest. Back at the resort, the infinity pool seemingly spills into the surrounding hills. From here, the horizon becomes a living panorama of forest, farmland and sky, shifting in colour as the day passes from morning to the glow of sunset. The spa provides another form of retreat, where traditional Thai treatments restore balance after a day outdoors.
Food is at the heart of the Thanyamundra experience. The resort’s organic farm supplies the kitchen with fragrant herbs, just-picked vegetables, tropical fruit and locally produced cheese. Meals, whether enjoyed in the open-sided pavilion or al fresco under the stars, are thoughtfully prepared to highlight the freshest seasonal ingredients.
