Batang Ai Longhouse

Traditional Longhouse Accommodation in Batang Ai, Home of the Iban Head-Hunters
This longhouse has been built by the local Iban people (formerly known as the ‘head-hunters’) especially for visitors.
Expect the accommodation to be basic, but the experience to be rich. Staying here will allow you to get as close as it’s possible to be to this fascinating tribe. You’ll stay in a longhouse styled in the image of the Ibans’ own homes and be able to enjoy an evening with them, dining and dancing with the residents of Batang Ai.
As a token of thanks, many guests bring presents for the Ibans. If you want to do the same, it’s recommended that you bring items like pens, pencils, children’s reading, writing and colouring books, cookies, or similar.
