The opportunity is also there to view small animals such as the Cape Mountain Zebra, Bontebok, ostrich and Baboon as we enter the Cape of Good Hope National Park. On arrival at the reserve, you will have the opportunity to cycle along the winding road to the historical landmark of Cape Point, the most South-Western point of Africa (weather permitting). The reserve is home to an array of fynbos, over 250 species of birds, buck, baboons and Cape mountain zebra. Continue to enjoy views from Cape Point Lighthouse before travelling to the naval base at Simon's Town.

Enjoy a delicious lunch before proceeding to Boulders Beach for a visit to the penguin colony. Well-placed wooden walkways allow visitors to see these delightful little creatures in their natural habitat without invading their privacy too much. After visiting the penguins you stop (time & tide permitting) on a lovely semiprivate beach for swimming. Return to Cape Town in the late afternoon. At all times you will have a guide and vehicle back up.

Simon's Town & Boulders Bay

We will visit Boulders Beach for an exciting close up encounter with African Penguins. Drive through the historical naval village of Simonstown and over yet another spectacular mountain pass; Boyes Drive, where you will take in views of the quaint fishing harbour at Kalk Bay as well as the seaside villages of St James and Muizenberg.

Cheetah Outreach Tour

We can take you to the Cheetah Outreach center in Paardevlei, near Sommerset West, and meet the conservation's majestic cheetahs. The historic center, which features properties on its premises that date back to the late 1890s, offers a large viewing platform with fantastic views of the vlei set against the stunning backdrop of the Helderberg Mountains. The fastest land animals in the world, the cheetah is now sadly at a real risk of becoming extinct with only an estimated 7,500 animals left in the world. At present, the centre protects six of these big cats and is also home to servals, jackals, meerkats, a caracal and a bat-eared fox. You will also get to meet the conservation's Turkish Anatolian Shepherd dogs, a fascinating breed which bonds with the livestock in their charge. Entry fees are not included.

Full day privately guided tour of the Winelands

You will be met this morning by your guide and set off for the Winelands, a delightful drive which winds its way through superb mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads. The first stop is Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, with canal-lined avenues, and magnificent examples of Cape Dutch architecture where you can do wine tasting, coupled with a chocolate, cheese and dessert tasting. Onward over the scenic Helshoogte Pass, to Franschhoek, founded by French Huguenots over 350 years ago, and widely regarded as the culinary capital of South Africa. Its beautiful setting and café lined streets will charm you and a further wine tasting is included at one of the renowned estates here. Your final stop is at the town of Paarl, at the foot of a cluster of remarkable granite domes where you enjoy your final wine tasting before heading back to Cape Town. We can also take you and your family horse riding and quad biking with a gourmet picnic for adventure fun.

Horse riding in the Winelands
