Staying at the wonderful Blancaneaux – owned by Francis Ford Coppola – this Balinese styled lodge’s riverside location is perfect place from which to explore the surrounding area. You’ll get to discover the fascinating caves at Actun Tunichil Muknal, the immense Mayan ruins at Caracol and the Rio On Pools waterfall.
Next, fly out to Ambergris Caye, Belize’s largest island, sitting atop the Belize Barrier Reef. The reef makes for truly excellent snorkelling and scuba diving, and the island itself has a charmingly laid-back island vibe.

Daily activities will depend on your chosen lodgings, but most include hiking trails, trekking, mountain biking, bird watching tours and visiting Mayan sites.
Your guide and instructor will collect you from your hotel and drive you to the Actun Tunichil Mukna caves for a full day's exploration of them with picnic lunch.
Head into an area of sub-tropical rainforest to the Maya village of San Antonio to see the Mestizo culture, a fascinating mix of Maya and Spanish.
Continue through the Mountain Pine Ridge and Chiquibul Forest Reserves to reach the beautiful Maya site of Caracol. Caracol is the largest archeological site in Belize, originally covering an area much larger than present-day Belize City and supported more than twice the modern city's population. Amidst the jungle, explore plazas, an astronomic observatory and some of the thousands of buildings that have been identified to date with a private guide. The loftiest among them, a massive pyramid named Caana, is capped by three temples and rises over 42m (140 feet) above the jungle floor.
On the way back to the hotel, there is an optional stop at Rio On Pools and Rio Frio Caves.
