Villa Principe Leopoldo is located at the top of the ‘Collina d’Oro’, which dominates Lugano and its gulf. The hotel owes its name to Federico Leopoldo, a cavalry general, and descendant of the great German dynasty, the Hohenzollerns.
Because of its rich history dating back to the end of the 19th century, the building has entertained both famous and noble guests alike and it now proudly embraces its identity as one of Lugano’s most prestigious establishments. Set on the shores of the Lake Lugano, it enjoys spectacular views of the water, out towards the forested slopes beyond.
The hotel features 39 suites, classically elegant in design. The majority have their own private terrace with views over the garden or out towards the lake.
Enjoy a taste of Italy at the Principe Leopoldo Restaurant, decorated with antique furniture, stuccoes and magnificent oriental carpets. The Limonaia winter garden is a favourite spot for breakfast and guests can enjoy a drink on the terrace while enjoying the views. When you want to simply relax and unwind, the spa is the perfect retreat.
The hotel is a great starting point from which to explore the region of Ticino. Houses line narrow streets, their wooden shutters opening to the surrounding countryside with secrets just begging to be discovered on the numerous hiking trails and mountain bike routes.
